Okay, so I went back-and-forth with this one. (And next week’s movie!) I really love the film’s score. I really love the director and actors. However, I wasn’t sure how well my girls would handle the content.

Music: Michael Abels
NOPE is described as a neo-western science fiction horror film. I think that sums it up pretty well! It reminds me of Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Signs. The cinematography and score of NOPE really add to the suspense in the same ways.
The film is about a family that handles horses for film & TV productions. They discover a UFO that hovers over a Western theme park, which is owned and operated by a former child actor.
Michael Abels has scored other Jordan Peele movies. The music in NOPE is interesting. There is both a sense of awe and a sense of urgency. There is a lot of silence in the movie, which adds to the discomfort of the scenes. There are times when you expect to hear something, yet you hear nothing…which kind of freaks me out!
The film’s main theme sums everything up!
